January 11, 2013
Dear Clients,
The year of 2013 will definitely bring change --- and the certainty of every New Year is that change will bring both the expected and the unexpected.
On January 1st, Financial Network Investment Corporation officially changed its name to Cetera Advisor Networks. There will be very little adjustment for you as most of the changes will be administrative and dealt with behind the scenes. Futuristically, though, we have decided to brand ourselves (within Cetera Advisor Networks) and become Rosenblatt Advisors. We will keep you posted on when that becomes official.
Another big change for the year is going to be the relocation of our office to Castro Valley. After 10 plus years of living in an attic and climbing steep stairs, we have purchased a building on Castro Valley Boulevard. Our close relationship with the tax office downstairs will remain the same except we will not be in the same building. Imagine no steps to climb! (The move should take place around March of this year and we will notify you with the actual date when we know it.)
The fiscal cliff has been avoided and postponed for now and we no longer have the uncertainty of how to plan for estate taxes, income taxes, dividends and capital gains. The major concern for our Country is the necessity of an agreement on the spending for entitlement programs. Whether you are a government, corporation or an individual, spending more than you earn will eventually lead to problems. Let us hope that in early March, when Congress reconvenes, a resolution will come forward quickly on entitlement programs as well as on revenue spending as the markets often react with volatility when there is no solution in sight.
There will be change throughout the world in 2013 as Europe is still in process trying to get their arms around the massive debt that has been created. The Middle East is still in political turmoil. Japan is beginning to debase their currency to increase exports. China is trying to jump start a sluggish economy. Markets will rise and fall expectedly and unexpectedly.
We believe 2013 will be a good time to invest.
Sincerely,
Jay K. Rosenblatt, CFP | Craig J. Rosenblatt, CPA |
