Quarterly Letter 01/01/2014

Over this lovely holiday break, my wife and I had a chance to get away from our twins for a night and see the movie "The Wolf of Wall Street."  For those of you who don't already know, the movie chronicles the rise and fall of a rogue stock trader named, Jordan Belfort. Jordan starts the movie off making money legitimately by buying and selling blue chip stocks, but when greed takes over his conscience, he starts buying and selling very speculative and risky stocks. We all know what happens to him after that…

I reference this movie because 2013 has been a banner year in stock market history. (The S&P 500 indicator, alone, has increased close to 30%!)  And, our economy continues to hum along nicely.  As always, Jay and I want to remind you of two very important things:  1.) Don't get comfortable with stock returns like we have had this last year because odds are they will not happen again in this new year, and 2.) investing is a marathon not a sprint. We would much rather have your accounts run like "Forrest Gump" and not sprint like "The Fast and the Furious".

As always, Jay and I are available to answer any and all of your questions. If you feel like your accounts are running too fast or dragging on too slow, let us know so we can perform a review and see if changes are needed.

On a side note, we do provide additional services to our clients on top of financial advising. Do let us know if you need assistance on tax returns for individuals, personal life insurance or consulting services for small businesses.  We can review your needs to determine if they fit with the services we offer.

Please have a happy and healthy New Year. We look forward to a prosperous 2014.

Sincerely,

Jay K. Rosenblatt, CFPCraig J. Rosenblatt, CPA
